Thermal Performance Testing.  Fulkerson & Associates, Inc.  can provide all of the necessary instrumentation and personnel to conduct a thermal performance test in accordance with the CTI ATC-105 or ASME PTC-23 test procedures.  We use state of the art electronic data acquisition systems to collect and store the test data.  All temperatures are measured with precision platinum RTDs calibrated and traceable to NIST. The RTD probes are read once every ten seconds by the data logger and averaged for the test period.  The test instruments can be packed in cases which can be taken as baggage on commercial airlines. The test instruments have been taken and used in locations as far away as Chile in South America and the Philippine Islands. If the tower is not performing satisfactorily, we can make suggestions for changes to improve the cooling capacity of the tower.

Key Benefits of Cooling Tower Testing

bullet

Only with a properly conducted performance test with accurately calibrated instruments can you be certain of the thermal capability of your cooling tower.

bullet

Tests can be conducted on towers of any size from small package towers to the largest field erected or natural draft cooling towers.

bullet

Temperatures are recorded using precision platinum RTDs and an electronic data acquisition system.

bullet

For diagnostic testing to pinpoint problems in a cooling tower additional data, not required for the CTI or ASME test, will be collected.

bullet

If the original design data for the tower are not available or is no longer relevant, new design data and performance curves will be generated.

Capabilities

Fulkerson & Associates, Inc. has many years of experience in the design, construction and testing of cooling towers.  Robert Fulkerson was a member of the CTI committee which produced the CTI-ATC-105 test code.  He was also a member of the ASME-PTC23 committee which developed the ASME test code PTC 23-1986.  He is now a member of the ASME-PTC23 committee which recently published the PTC 23-2003 test code for performance testing of cooling towers.
