Cooling Tower Inspections. Fulkerson & Associates, Inc. provides an inspection service where we inspect the rotating mechanical equipment, the water distribution system and all of the tower internals. We also inspect the complete structure of the cooling tower. The tower may be constructed from wood, fiberglass, steel or concrete. The strength of the wood used in cooling towers declines with long exposure to water at elevated temperatures. If a wood tower is designed according to CTI codes and standards the physical properties of the wood such as, the modulus of elasticity and the compression strength of the wood are adjusted so the tower will have a life of fifty years. The tower should be able to withstand operating loads, wind loads, and seismic loads for fifty years. This would be true if the structure has not been damaged. The structure, however, can be damaged by such things as biological attack, chemical attack, Iron rot, or fans out of balance Etc. Regular thorough inspections are necessary to properly maintain cooling towers throughout their operating life. Click on the links at the left to view some of the other services we offer.
